Online Learning for Parents-To-Be

June 12, 2014

North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit – The Health Unit is now making it easier for new parents to find out what to expect before, during and after their baby is born. Our new online Prenatal Program was developed for those who are not able to attend our prenatal classes, but want to know more about having a baby.

It’s easy to access and use and it’s free! Parents-to-be can call the Health Unit to register and get a passcode. Then they can access the program online, learn at their own pace and in whatever order they choose from the comfort of their own home.

This web-based prenatal program has seven different segments. The topics covered include: breastfeeding, relaxation exercises, what to expect as new parents, taking care of yourself and your baby, and developing a birth plan. They will learn what to expect during labour and birth, as well as tips on what to do when your baby cries, what to shop for and where parents can find help in their community.
