COVID-19 Vaccination Policy in Ontario

As of September 7th, 2021, Ontarians working and volunteering in settings where the risk of contracting and transmitting COVID-19 is higher must abide by their organizational vaccination policy.

As part of the vaccination policy, individuals are required to provide proof of one of three things:

  1. Full vaccination against COVID-19;
  2. A medical reason for not being vaccinated against COVID-19; or
  3. Completion of a COVID-19 vaccination educational session.

How can OPHA support your organization?

To support organizations with implementation of their vaccination policies, our team has been developing custom virtual COVID-19 vaccination courses. Each course is created to satisfy the minimum criteria as instructed by the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, by utilizing content that is both credible and timely (sourced appropriately) such as videos, resources, etc. The objective of the training is to support learners make an informed decision about the COVID-19 vaccine and increase their intention to become vaccinated against COVID-19. To do so, each course includes the following topics, in addition to topics that have been customized to reduce vaccine hesitancy in the target audience:

  • how COVID-19 vaccines work;
  • vaccine safety related to the development of the COVID-19 vaccines;
  • the benefits of vaccination against COVID-19;
  • risks of not being vaccinated against COVID-19; and
  • possible side effects of COVID-19 vaccination.

After completing the course, participants will receive a custom certificate of completion.
