Ottawa Lean Sigma Yellow Belt Workshop

Designed specifically for public and community health, OPHA and Leading Edge Group Lean Sigma Workshops will allow you to strengthen continuous quality improvement and leadership skills to achieve positive change through learning how to integrate Lean and Six Sigma as part of a quality improvement framework.

About the Yellow Belt Workshop

Building upon concepts learned in the White Belt workshop, you will gain an understanding of the purpose and application of Lean Six Sigma in public and community health as well as a basic proficiency in applying effective data gathering, the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) framework and relevant Lean and Six Sigma tools.

Prerequisite: Lean Sigma White Belt certification (learn about our White Belt Workshop here)

Meet the faculty

Jane Bishop, Director of Health Services for Leading Edge Group, is a registered nurse with over 30 years experience working in the UK, Ireland, USA and Canada. Jane is also a Lean Sigma Master Black Belt. Her expertise has enabled her to work effectively with clinical teams, administrators, service partners and community groups at organizational, regional and provincial levels to achieve positive and sustainable change. Jane has supported a number of district health units in Ontario over the past 18 months. This support has enabled her to develop a strong understanding of the framework that public and community health organizations and professionals in the province are working within as well as the unique challenges involved

Janine LeFort, Director of Education Services for Leading Edge Group, has over 25 years’ experience in process improvement across a variety of sectors.  Janine is known for her ability to build and implement cross functional processes and systems through developing effective relationships and utilizing superior knowledge transfer techniques.  She is qualified as a Lean Black Belt and, as a forward thinker, is currently completing her Masters in Distance Education at Athabasca University. Most recently, Janine has added value as a Lean facilitator in public health by enabling the successful transition of a genetics program from a district health unit to a hospital. Furthermore, Janine has supported district health units in Ontario through Lean coaching and mentoring. This support has resulted in significant cost savings and increased capacity to enable staff to focus on providing improved services to the public. Janine is also a part-time Professor at George Brown College in Toronto.
