Food Insecurity: Dedicated, effective policy solutions

Household food insecurity is a growing problem in Canada. In this webinar, Dr. Valerie Tarasuk will explore a variety of effective policy solutions that could be applied to address this growing public health problem.

Dr. Valerie Tarasuk is a professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.  She is the Principal Investigator in the PROOF research program, which is an interdisciplinary, internationally-based group investigating the the attributes of effective policy approaches to improve household food insecurity in Canada. Her research is focused on food insecurity and food policy  in Canada and recent work includes analyses of population survey data to elucidate the health, nutritional, and sociodemographic correlates of household food insecurity in Canada, an examination of food assistance in Victoria, Edmonton, Toronto, Quebec City and Halifax, and a study of housing, neighbourhood characteristics. and food access among low-income Toronto families.
