Stone Soup fundraiser doles out yummy bowls for school nutrition programs

The Stone Soup fundraiser brought together chefs and soup enthusiasts of all ages at the Manitoba Hydro building in downtown Winnipeg during the lunch hour on Wednesday. Now in its third year, the event was held in support of the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba, which promotes and advocates for nutrition programs in schools.

Loblaws sells ugly fruit at a discount to curb food waste

Last year, French supermarket Intermarch√© used a marketing campaign to celebrate the beauty of the “hideous, ugly and failed” fruit and vegetables. Its stores almost sold out of the disfigured produce. To curb the unnecessary food waste in Canada, Loblaw Companies Ltd. is selling misshapen apples and potatoes at a 30 per cent discount at Real Canadian Superstore and No Frills stores in Ontario and Maxi stores in Quebec.
