The Devastating Consequences of Unequal Food Access – The Role of Race and Income in Diabetes

Health Equity This US-based policy brief describes factors contributing to higher prevalence rates of diabetes among US racial and ethnic groups, including lower incomes and lack of access to healthy food. It provides an analysis of the impact of physical proximity to healthy food on diabetes rates and policy recommendations to reduce chronic disease, health disparities, inequality as well as health care costs.
