Healthy eating at work (October 6, 2016)

In 2015, the Ontario Society of Nutrition Professionals in Public Health (OSNPPH) published its Creating a Healthy Workplace Nutrition Environment Toolkit to help health intermediaries and employers promote healthy eating in their respective workplaces. This webinar provided an overview of the many assessment tools, templates and recommendations in the toolkit and how these can be used to create healthier workplace food environments.


One bite at a time: Using Brightbites to improve school nutrition environments (September 29, 2016)

In this webinar, attendees learned how BrightBites was developed through rebranding of Nutrition Tools for Schools, and how it can be used by anyone interested in improving the school nutrition environment and culture, including Healthy Kids Community Challenge communities.


Understanding supermarkets (September 8, 2016)

This webinar presened a novel multi-method research project conducted by Toronto Public Health to assess and understand Toronto’s supermarket landscape. Attendees learned how supermarket nutrition and marketing strategies, and the physical environment, influence shopping decisions and behaviours. Opportunities for interventions, collaboration, advocacy and further research were also explored.


Supplemented foods: a growing trend (June 16, 2016)

In this webinar, attendees learned about a Knowledge Translation and Exchange Strategy to inform clear labelling and educate consumers on identifying supplemented foods, understanding label information, and making informed decisions. Attendees also had the opportunity to share their needs for education and resources on supplemented foods.

In this webinar, speakers provided strategies, resources, and tools to facilitate efforts to limit access to sugar-sweetened beverages and promote water consumption in recreation settings across Ontario.

In this webinar, Dietitians of Canada presented its new position paper recommending an excise tax on sugar-sweetened beverages sold in Canada as part of the solution to address the negative impact of these beverages on health.


Multi-level Interventions to Promote Healthy Eating (March 24, 2016)

In this webinar, Dr. Joel Gittelsohn, Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, explored the importance of multi-level interventions to promote healthy eating and how to address some of the challenges to this approach. 


Parents, Kids and Menus (March 9, 2016)

This webinar reviewed the purpose and the current science on menu labelling, and presented new data from research conducted in Ontario. 


Healthy Food Zones:Assessing food outlet density and purchasing behavior of students (October 15, 2015)

This webinar presented York Region Public Health's Healthy Food Zones Project that examined the influence of the built environment on food choices made by York Region secondary students.
