NutriSTEP®

Program Description
NutriSTEP® is a parent-administered 17-item questionnaire that covers the nutritional risk constructs for the preschool population (3-5 years): food and nutrient intake, physical growth, developmental and physical capabilities, physical activity, food security and the feeding environment.

Status
As of 30th September 2012, NRC transitioned from its coordination role for the NutriSTEP® program. The University of Guelph will continue to advance the program throughout the province. To view a letter about the transition, please click here.

The NutriSTEP® questionnaires were later adapted as electronic applications - called Nutri-eSTEP - to accommodate direct use by individual parents/caregivers of toddlers and preschoolers.   These are located on the Dietitians of Canada (DC) website as part of a broader web tool that provides immediate feedback to users, as well as links to relevant resources.

News
On April 17th, 2014, the OPHA hosted a webinar about Nutri-eStep called "Helping Parents Build Healthier Kids". This webinar provided background information to give listeners a better understanding of the Nutri-eSTEP nutrition screening tools for preschoolers and toddlers. The webinar recording and presentation slides can be viewed from this page
